Continuity and change for the EFA

In Hamburg, the European Fireplaces Association sets the targets for the organisation’s work over the next year
At the end of April 2017, the movers and shakers of the fireplace sector met for a pan-European exchange of ideas in the northern German city of Hamburg. The attendees at the two-day event discussed the challenges facing the sector across Europe and the consequences for the future work of the organisation.
The main issues discussed included the concentration of the organisation’s work at the European level as well as a more prominent presence at trade fairs and industry meetings. Another important point was the new EFA Index. The Index is a sector marker that has been recorded by the Fireplaces Association since the end of last year in accordance with scientific criteria. There was some good internal news for the organisation too: the entire board was confirmed in office. Uwe Striegler (Hark) remains chairman, while Ursula Gröbner (Superfire) is his deputy. The other members are Friedrich Allendorff (Westbo of Sweden), Michaela Waldecker (Joseph Raab), Horst Funda (Funda Abgastechnik), Dr.-Ing. Daniel Lehberger (Techno-Physik Engineering) and Karlheinz Leuders (Kleining).

The EFA, which was founded in 1996, is the professional association of the fireplace industry for all European countries and represents the interests of its members in the areas of solid fuel fireplaces, flue gas technology and the accessories and supplier industry.
