TOPEX became a EUROCAE WG-67 member

TOPEX is pleased to announce the successful process completion to become a member of EUROCAE Working Group 67.
EUROCAE - European Organization for Civil Aviation Equipment, is a non-profit making organization providing a European forum to establish reference standards, technical specifications and other documents for Airborne and On Ground electronic equipment and systems for the benefit of the aviation community as a whole.
To be a EUROCAE member is a great opportunity for related ATM companies to participate in Working Group forums where technical specifications regarding the most recent technologies, systems and equipments are developed. In this way, every Working Group has different tasks. The activities undertaken by EUROCAE Working Group 67 are examining the use of VoIP in an Air Traffic Management environment (VoIP for ATM). Members of this group include European ANSPs, European ATM Suppliers of VCS equipment and Ground Based Radio Systems, FAA, Eurocontrol, Telecom equipment suppliers and Telecom Operators.

Regarding TOPEX recent inclusion in this Working Group, Mr. Guy POTIRON, EUROCAE WG-67 Chairman stated: “Every WG-67 members warmly welcomed TOPEX and I am sure their competence and experience in VoIP fields will contribute to make our business more efficient and successful for the benefits of European (West and East) Industry Standardization.”
The introduction of the VoIP in the land communications for the ATC systems offers undeniable advantages in terms of:

• Flexibility – IP solutions are easy to deploy, upgrade and extend

TOPEX contribution to the development of Voice over IP standards guaranteeing ATM VoIP interoperability was proven for the first time between 10th and 11th of September at EUROCAE’s group 67 meeting held by Frequentis at Vienna, this gathering representing a new step for the improvement of IP-technology.

About EUROCAE WG67
EUROCAE Working Group 67 (WG67) defines standards guaranteeing ATM VoIP interoperability and includes system and equipment suppliers, main European Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP), FAA and Eurocontrol. In order to guarantee safe and secure voice communications in an Air Traffic Management environment this group is defining the interoperable interfaces for Ground-Ground ATS Voice communications and Ground-Ground part of Air-Ground ATC Voice communication between Voice Communication systems (VCS), Voice recording systems, Supervision systems, Ground radio stations and all IP network elements.
