Wichorus announces Wimax interoperability with Winetworks

San Jose, CA September 23, 2008 – WiChorus, provider of the industry’s most scalable platforms for Smart 4G Networks, and WiNetworks, a pioneer and leader in the development and integration of WiMAX 802.16e Wave 2 (MIMO) technologies, today announced the successfully completed interoperability testing (IOT) between WiChorus’ Intelligent ASN gateway and WiNetworks’ Base Stations.

WiChorus and WiNetworks demonstrated interoperability based on the open, Profile C, R6 interface from the WiMAX Forum’s NWG specification. Leveraging standards-based interfaces, mobile operators have the flexibility to choose from a large ecosystem of best-of-breed equipment including base stations and ASN gateways. This approach allows operators to avoid getting locked into a single vendor’s proprietary solution, where deployment options are limited and costs are not controlled.

“WiChorus is working with innovative WiMAX companies such as WiNetworks, to ensure mobile operators have interoperable, best-of-breed choices as they plan and deploy their Mobile WiMAX networks,” said Rehan Jalil, President and CEO of WiChorus. “The One Open WiMAX program has helped to transform a traditionally closed carrier wireless market into an open, horizontal model that spurs innovation and competition.”

The One Open WiMAX initiative has accelerated the availability of WiMAX Forum-compliant infrastructure equipment; ensuring service providers have the option to combine best-of-breed equipment which includes ASN gateways and base stations to build their networks. The goal of this initiative is to ensure fully open WiMAX standards, including the adoption of a single open R6 interface, and to demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability across the entire mobile ecosystem.

WiChorus will be showing the WiMAX end-to-end solution featuring SmartCore products, like its market-leading Intelligent ASN Gateway and Home Agent products, at WiMAX World USA in Chicago, September 30-October 2, in booth 822.

WiChorus is the leading provider of highly intelligent, scalable core platforms for 4G networks. Its SmartCore platforms enable operators to deploy smart WiMAX and LTE networks with advanced service and subscriber management, content management, and network optimizations, and to monetize the Internet for increased ARPU and profitability. Through its One Open WiMAX initiative, WiChorus has accelerated the availability of an end-to-end open WiMAX ecosystem, ensuring service providers have the option to combine best-of-breed solutions, like its market-leading Intelligent ASN Gateway and Home Agent products. Headquartered in San Jose, Calif., WiChorus is backed by leading Silicon Valley investors Redpoint Ventures, Accel Partners, and Mayfield Fund. For more information, please visit www.wichorus.com.
