Busch demonstrated innovative new developments in vacuum technology at its trade show booth at Interpack 2017

This year's trade show appearance of Busch Vacuum Pumps and Systems generated a great deal of interest amongst the more than 170,000 visitors to the Interpack in Düsseldorf. The specialist audience used the opportunity to discuss highly energy-efficient and economical vacuum solutions with Busch's vacuum experts. Vacuum technology plays a central role in many packaging processes and in the production of packaging materials.

The attendees came from 44 countries and were particularly impressed by the latest generation of R 5 rotary vane vacuum pumps, which are helping Busch to set new standards, especially in the field of vacuum packaging. Thanks to significant technical improvements, the new R 5 RD series uses 20 percent less energy than comparable vacuum generators – without compromising the reliability or robustness of the vacuum pump. In addition to these significant energy savings, this new vacuum pump can also achieve shorter packaging cycles or cycle times.

At its trade fair booth, Busch also provided information about central vacuum systems that can be individually adapted to meet customer requirements. This sort of centralization of vacuum supply offers countless advantages. Firstly, it means that fewer vacuum pumps are required than in a decentralized vacuum supply; in combination with demand-driven control, this provides an enormous energy savings potential. Secondly, this kind of centralized vacuum system can be housed in a separate room, so that vacuum pumps no longer need to be positioned in production areas, resulting in the elimination of noise and heat emissions from workplaces. In cooled production areas further savings are created by the centralization of vacuum supply, as air conditioning units can be designed to be smaller. Tailor-made heat recovery concepts additionally help operators to use the produced heat and to target thereby further energy savings. Centralized vacuum supplies also offer high levels of reliability, since all system-relevant components are designed to be redundant. Even maintenance work can be
undertaken during operation without impacting performance.
