Debrecen Airport welcomes Ukraine's visa-free travel to the EU

From mid-June 2017 onwards, Ukrainian citizens can travel visa-free to most European Union countries (with the exception of the United Kingdom and Ireland). About 1.3 million people in Transcarpathia region can explore discovering the countries of Europe with an ideal departure point from Debrecen Airport.
"Debrecen Airport is the largest regional airport in Hungary, which also meets the Schengen criteria and it lays only 130km away from the Ukrainian border. (!) Thanks to continuous new route development, the number of passengers is also increasing months on months. This growth is not only beneficial for the development of the airport but also has a positive impact on the tourism turnover of the region. EU visa waiver for Ukrainian citizens in mid-June can have a positive impact on tourist traffic from Transcarpathia to Western Europe and Israel. We are optimistic that the number of guest nights spent by foreign tourists will increase significantly such as the occupancy rate of hotels in the region, "said Laszlo TAMAS, director of aviation development.
This year a new scheduled flight has been added to the number of available destinations at Debrecen Airport, from 26 March 2017, the first non-European Wizz Air flight from Debrecen Airport, twice a week to Tel Aviv. Another scheduled service has restarted to the third largest city in Sweden, to Malmö, with less than one hour transfer to Denmark's capital, Copenhagen. In May, we have a regular German incoming charter flight, and in summer we offer several charter destinations for East-Hungarians, Transcarpathians and for the border-travelers ie. from the Partium region or from East-Slovakia to the Turkish Riviera, Corfu, Zakynthos and to Bourgas in Bulgaria.
