MBA Gate 2009 – Expert Panel gives Advice to potential MBA Students

09-18-2008 05:07 PM CET | Science & Education

Press release from: MBA-Gate.de

The global economic crisis has led to a record high in applications for MBA programs because an MBA degree is viewed as a promising qualification for a highly paid job. The MBA landscape, however, seems to many people like a jungle. The eighth MBA Expert Forum MBA Gate 2009, the most long-standing of its kind in Germany, provides help to sort through this morass. MBA experts and students from renowned MBA programs talk about available programs in the MBA market, the application process, and career options and opportunities for MBA graduates. The forum takes place on September 20th, 2008, in Frankfurt am Main, and is organized by the web portal MBA Gate, the Staufenbiel Institute, Manhattan Review, and EducationConsult. A few spots are still available but prior registration on the MBA Gate website is required. Participation is free of charge.

The top business schools continue to be very selective as to whom they admit. That only 15% of all applicants were granted admission for the academic year 2008/2009 at the renowned Columbia Business School is not unusual. The intensive competition even leads to cheating. GMAC, the organizer of the mandatory admission test, has recently disqualified almost 100 test takers who illegally posted authentic test questions on a now defunct website.

This latest development has only increased potential students’ desires to learn what MBA studies are all about. At the MBA Gate expert forum, for many years an established name in providing valuable help for potential MBA students, insiders cover all aspects of the topic. Dr Joern Meissner (http://www.meiss.com), lecturer at the Lancaster University Management School and Academic Director of Manhattan Review (http://www.review.de), will give an overview of the MBA application process and advice for preparing the GMAT admission test. Birgit Giesen, managing director of the Staufenbiel Institute, will lay out the different types of MBA programs and career opportunities in Germany for MBA graduates. Detlev Kran, the former head of the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation and now an independent consultant, will provide information about MBA program accreditation at German companies. Also, Sebastian Blum, MBA graduate from the Stern School of Business School in New York and currently an Engagement Manager at Booz Allen, will talk about his experiences during the application process and answers participants’ questions about his experiences during his studies.

Attendance of the MBA Gate 2009 is free of charge but requires prior registration at http://www.mba-gate.de. The forum will begin at 2:00 p.m. on September 20, 2008, at the Saalbau Bornheim, Arnsburger Straße 24, 60385 Frankfurt, Germany.

The information platform MBA-Gate.de features updated advice and information about choosing an MBA program, reports from participants in MBA programs, information about where to apply for financial help for your MBA studies, practice-proven advice by successful applicants on how to prepare for the GMAT and TOEFL tests, and much more. The website is www.MBA-Gate.de.
