Avalon Springs Launches Fall Eco-Centered Workshop Series
Avalon’s workshop lineup includes:
• Sept. 12-14 Earthen Plasters with Tempe Sikora
• Sept. 22-26 Natural Building Week with Virgil Ryon
• Oct. 3-5 Backyard Pharmacy with Lynda Eashowski
• Oct. 10-12 Preparing for the California Drought and Stormwater Cycle: Natural Patterns Permaculture Weekend with John Valenzuela and Geoff Hall.
The workshops are held on Avalon Springs’ more than 300-acre property, which already hosts natural and historic buildings, a large organic garden, and 10 natural springs.
After several years, the Avalon Springs team has purchased the land, completed an ecological assessment, and submitted a master plan for the hot springs retreat center and ecovillage with input from environmental design specialists Arkin-Tilt Architects; Winzler & Kelly Engineers (water and energy systems); and Sentient Landscape (former co-directors of the Northern California Permaculture Institute).
Additional workshops and classes are being planned for 2009. The website has more information on the workshops and on how to get involved with Avalon Springs.
