SAN FRANCISCO, California – Sept. 15, 2008— Philein/Zi-Ru Tiger Productions announced today that ‘Stories from Home’, a showcase of dance, music, video and poetry featuring the choreography of Philein Wang and Lori Tilkin and directed by Hollywood director Joerg Ihle will be presented Oct. 3, 4 and 5th at San Francisco’s Dance Mission located at 3316 24th Street.

‘Stories from Home’ will present an evening of existing and new multi-disciplinary work by choreographer, poet and composer Philein Wang focusing on memories of places she has called home in the San Francisco Bay Area, Taipei and Beijing. Reservations call 415-273-4633 or online: at brownpapertickets dot com.

“I am so excited to present new dance pieces within the ‘Stories From Home’ framework which explores memories I have of my various homes in the U.S., Taiwan and China,” said Wang, dance innovator, and founder of Philein/Zi-Ru Tiger Productions. “It is an honor to have support and participation from the level of professionals that will be performing in October. I’m humbled that everyone has signed up to be part of this incredible three-night dancing and artistic collaboration.”

Throughout the ‘Stories From Home’ showcase, Wang will introduce her Tiger Hip Hop™/Tiger Motion™ dance and music which received critical acclaim during performances in China earlier this year. Tiger Hip Hop/Tiger Motion is a new dance form created and choreographed by Wang which incorporates Tiger Claw, Wushu, Tai-chi, Modern Dance and Hip Hop and puts them into dance form.

“Philein is a creative force of nature. Her ability to express herself not only through dance, but also through music, poetry and choreography allows for a multi-dimensional collaboration where one art form inspires another,” said Joerg Ihle, director. “Philein invites our souls to dance and encourages our hearts to embrace the unknown, the true birthplace of beauty and art.”

“It’s very exciting to work with an innovative choreographer like Philein Wang,” said Lori Tilkin, Choreographer and Board Member. “Her vision for a multi-cultural and multi-genre movement style combined with an international storyscape is the very essence of modern dance: breaking the conventions that came before it.”
