Partners for Youth with Disabilities’ Hosts 12th Annual

WHAT: On Thursday, May 18th, 2017 Partners for Youth with Disabilities (PYD), will hold its 12th annual “Party for PYD” benefit event. From 6:00PM – 9:00PM, guests will engage in an evening dedicated to raising awareness for PYD’s critical programs and funding efforts featuring emcee Karen Holmes Ward of WCVB Channel 5 Boston. The party will include hors d’oeuvres, refreshments, entertainment by young PYD program performers, and live jazz music by award-winning Berklee College of Music graduates Wayne Pearcy and Noé Socha. Wayne and Noé are both blind and are accomplished musicians working in the field.

The PYD Legends Awards, which pay tribute to extraordinary board members, advisors, mentors, mentees, and supporters of PYD, will be presented to honorees, including Muhammad Ali, Lonnie Ali, and the Muhammad Ali Center; Bill Schawbel; and Melissa M. MacDonnell and Liberty Mutual Insurance. Regina Snowden, PYD’s Founder and Executive Director, expressed her appreciation for all the honorees, stating “Muhammad and Lonnie Ali are beautiful pioneers in societal leadership and mentoring and the Muhammad Ali Center has an extraordinary mission empowering all youth and people of all ages.” PYD is honored to welcome Donald Lassere, the President and CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center to accept the honor. “Melissa M. MacDonnell and Liberty Mutual Insurance are leaders in advancing accessibility and we’re so grateful for their generous and ongoing commitment. Likewise, in addition to his philanthropic support for children and young people with disabilities, Bill Schawbel brings extraordinary supports to PYD's strategic planning,” continued Snowden. All are incredible pillars of leadership in advancing diversity, mentoring, inclusion and strategic advocacy for a better world.

Each year PYD’s programs support hundreds of youth with disabilities reach their personal, educational, and career goals through unique mentoring, creative arts, life skills development, and career-readiness programs. Everyone in the Greater Boston community and beyond is invited to the party. Proceeds will go to PYD and the numerous directives aimed at helping youth with disabilities lead more fulfilling lives.
