The U.S. Naval Aviation was born on May 8, 1911 after a purchase request from Captain Washington Chambers for the Navy’s first ever aircraft. World War I was the first development for flying aircraft warfare. Pioneer aviators pushed for hydroaeroplanes and flying boats. With these new war machines, the patrol of the seas to protect the United States from foreign threats increased. Throughout the past 100 years, the U.S. Navy has continued to increase their presence on at sea, on the ground, and in the air.
