Overview:
Sale promotions are expected to generate larger volume of sales and thus profit for the business. However, the success of the sale lies in the customer turn out and thus advertising is the key to have a successful sale promotion campaign. Traditionally, billboards, TV and radio commercials, internet advertising, via email and social media campaigns, or mobile phone marketing, via SMS or phone calls, and newspaper/magazine ads are used to reach the customers to inform them about a sale promotion. However, the cost associated with these advertising forms is generally huge making it difficult for small businesses to benefit from the huge sale volumes by having sale promotions.
On the other hand, from the customers’ perspective, the sale promotion ads could be annoying especially if you are not interested in the products or stores that they are advertising. Social media and other search engines try to figure out the interests of users by looking at their search histories and interests in the social media platforms but the predictions could be wrong as, in most cases, the users do not make their choices explicitly.
HuntaSale:
In order to address these issues, we have developed a web and mobile app based platform where the businesses can either share their sale promotions for free or pay a very nominal fee (about 5% cost of the mainstream advertising channel) for a banner post. In addition, the app’s users have the flexibility to choose the stores and brands of their choice for which they are interested to know about the promotions. This way, the business would reach the right customers in the most cost-effective manner.
We have named the above-mentioned platform HuntaSale and have already launched its Android App, which is available in the Google’s PlayStore (Type "huntasale" (no spaces) in Playstore search bar) for download, with the help of professional developers at and students of National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) Islamabad, Pakistan. We have already obtained feedback on this app from various industrial experts and the response has been very positive. National University of Sciences and Technology is a public research university with main campus in Islamabad, Pakistan and other subsidiary campuses in different cities of Pakistan.
The Pakistani market for apparel and food has a bright future considering the trends and interests of our society. Moreover, cost savings is an integral aspect of our culture. Nowadays, people have to wait in long queues and even argue or fight to grab the sales of famous brands. Our app facilitates the timely notification of sale promotions and thus we expect it to be widely accepted in the Pakistani market.
The proposed idea of HuntaSale is quite different from the Groupon concept, which offers specialized discount coupons from the businesses for the customers, since we share all the sale promotions of all stores with our customers and this does not involve acquiring customized deals or coupons for our platform. The deals can be picked up from online resources (email or social media forums), or entered by the businesses themselves or even shared by the users of the HuntaSale platform.
Design:
We consider the app’s design to be quite innovative with the use of the color red to attract our users with a contrast of white so that the interface goes easy on the eye.
Our app enjoys a number of features including:

• Search: for all the latest deals
• Post: as the users, as well as businesses, deals/sales to our database to benefit everyone
• Get: notifications for every new deal and sale
