Geo Announces New Scalable 1Gbit/s and 10Gbit/s Managed Network Via London’s Sewers
London, United Kingdom, 6 August, 2008 – Geo, a leading provider of bespoke fibre networks, today announced a refresh of their Geo.Metro product portfolio which includes the launch of Geo.ONE PLUS (1Gbit/s plus), Geo.TEN (10Gbit/s) and Geo.TEN PLUS (2 x 10Gbit/s), all scalable Managed Network Service solutions for businesses in London. The company is the only network provider to have deployed optical fibre via the Thames Water sewer system. Geo’s high speed solution has been designed for medium to large sized organisations that require a secure and reliable network to connect multiple sites across the capital. Geo also offers dedicated fibre for customers who prefer to manage and own their own network infrastructure.Geo.ONE PLUS delivers a simple and easy-to-manage solution over dedicated fibre and offers an incremental upgrade path allowing customers to easily scale up as their needs change. Interfaces supported include: Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, HD-SDI.
In addition, the Geo.TEN Managed Network Service provides a stepping stone for customers planning to manage their own network. The 10Gb/s service supports Ethernet, Fibre Channel or STM-64 interfaces. Upgrading to Geo.TEN PLUS provides customers an additional 10Gb/s allowing businesses to increase bandwidth with ease.
Geo’s high speed optical fibre network in London provides a number of key benefits to its customers. Based solely on dedicated fibre and running through the capital’s sewer system, the solution is exceptionally secure and less susceptible to outages caused by road works.
