The potassium feldspar group is composed of three mineral polymorphs, each having the same chemical composition, but slightly different crystal structures despite their different crystal structures, the potassium feldspars are very similar to one another in appearance such as orthoclase, sanidine and microcline. They can be differentiate by their color like orthoclase a white or pink feldspar occurrence in rich volcanic rocks. Sanidine is a colorless felsic plutonic igneous rocks and metamorphic rocks and Microcline is white, pink or green feldspar occurrence in granite, pegmatites, & low temperature hydrothermal veins. In general, potassium feldspars commonly have pink to reddish hues. Potassium feldspars are especially abundant in rocks like granite. Granite is however rarely used for its feldspatic content. Rather a whole range of rocks geologically connected to granite is used.

Basically potassium feldspars take a part a significant role in ceramics and glass industries as fluxing agents, and are also used as functional fillers in the rubber, paint, coatings, plastic, and adhesive applications.
