Darrow Automotive Acquires Two Mazda Dealerships in the Charlotte Area

Darrow Automotive, a Wisconsin-based dealership group, has recently purchased the franchise and assets of Harrelson Mazda, from Louis Harrelson in Charlotte, as well as Carolina Mazda, from the Donald Auto Group in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The transactions were finalized on Friday, July 25, for Harrelson Mazda, and Tuesday, July 22, for the Rock Hill Mazda dealership. The acquisitions are the latest in a series of purchases in the southeastern United States and the first in the Charlotte area. “We are really excited about reintroducing Mazda in the Charlotte market,” stated Russ Darrow III, President and CEO of Darrow Automotive. “Mazda has a great product line-up, featuring fuel efficient MAZDA3’s to Motor Trend’s SUV of the year – the CX-9. These are the types of vehicles Charlotte residents want, but don’t know much about. Charlotte is a strong import market,” Darrow continued, “but Mazda has been underserviced. The all-new MAZDA6 will compete head-on with Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Nissan Altima, but will have a better price proposition. We intend to bring better selection, better service and better prices to Charlotte.” The dealerships will continue to be located at 9029 South Blvd., Charlotte, NC, and 830 North Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC, respectively. The names, however, will be changed to Mazda of South Charlotte and Mazda of Rock Hill. “Our naming philosophy is based on our feeling the stores serve the local community,” said Darrow. “We also want to continue to meet and exceed customer expectations, so the facilities will be reviewed for continuous improvement.
