Carolyn Y. Bryson Joins Board of Directors of St. Louis Health

March 27, 2017, St. Louis, Missouri…The not-for profit St. Louis Health Equipment Lending Program (St. Louis HELP) is pleased to announce that Carolyn Y. Bryson has been elected to its Board of Directors.

Carolyn serves as Community Liaison for Deer Valley Home Health Services, and notably their “on air personality” for the weekly “Home Health News You Can Use” radio program airing on WGNU and KXEN radio stations.

Carolyn often appears at health fairs and networking events throughout the St. Louis region. Carolyn has long been a supporter of St. Louis HELP. She describes one of her biggest joys as finding what a client needs at St. Louis HELP, and personally delivering those items to make their lives easier.

Carolyn’s life of service started with an award-winning career at Trans World Airlines and then she served as a substitute teacher in the Special School District of St. Louis County. Carolyn and her husband Robert have two daughters Amia and Imani. Amia is a special-needs child who cannot walk, talk or see.

Carolyn earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and pursued graduate studies in Marketing Communications from Roosevelt University in Chicago. She is an active member of the Grow 2 Go Christian Center, and she enjoys parasailing and massage.

Laura Cannon-Singer, Executive Director of St. Louis HELP, said, “Carolyn Bryson is a talented professional whose relevant experience in the nonprofit world will be an asset for our organization. We welcome Carolyn to the Board of Directors.”

St. Louis HELP is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that freely loans manual and power wheelchairs, scooters, canes, crutches, walkers, shower chairs, grab bars, elevated toilet seats, portable commodes, lift chairs, cushions, back supports, folding ramps and other home health devices. Child-sized and super-sized items are available.

Since its was founded in 2008 St. Louis HELP has loaned more than 50,000 home health items — for free — to people suffering from accidents, disabilities, and illnesses or for any reason.

St. Louis HELP also maintains The Women’s Center at its warehouse in Olivette to offer free loans of wigs, bras and prosthetic breasts for women who are victims of breast cancer.

In addition, St. Louis HELP maintains a private area for free loans of pediatric equipment. It provides privacy for children and their caregivers to try out items, such as small wheelchairs and pediatric standers.

St. Louis HELP collects, cleans and revitalizes used home health equipment for free loans to people suffering from accidents, illness or disability.
Virtually every type of home medical device is accepted by St. Louis HELP, which restores the equipment at its warehouse in St. Louis County. Donated items that cannot be used are recycled by St. Louis HELP.

“We accept donations of every type of item except oxygen and medications,” said Laura Cannon-Singer, who founded the not-for-profit organization in 2008.

St. Louis HELP will host a Home Health Equipment Donation Drive on Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Equipment drop-off locations will include St. Louis HELP’s lending warehouse in Olivette, and also in parking lots at 14 Walgreen’s designated stores in metro St. Louis. For information, see the website http://www.stlhelp.org or call 314 567 4700.
