HOOLIGAN Theatre Company is proud to present the explosive rock ‘n’ roll musical sensation, Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie’s Footloose. HOOLIGAN is continuing its 12th season with this popular piece that will make you want to jump up and dance. It will run for one weekend only, from April 14th through April 23rd at the Freud Playhouse at UCLA.
Footloose, the musical, is based on the film Footloose, released in 1984. Moving from Chicago, Ren McCormack is in shock to discover that the small midwestern town of Bomont he has moved to has outlawed dancing. He struggles to fit in, while staying true to himself, under many watchful eyes, especially Reverend Shaw Moore’s. But maybe with the help of his new friend, Willard Hewitt, and rebellious teen Ariel Moore, Ren can bring some life into the town.
HOOLIGAN Theater Company is a student-run, non-profit organization that provides professional theatre experiences for college students of all majors and backgrounds in order to enrich the theatre community and campus at large. Past sold-out performances include Rent; Oklahoma!; In the Heights; Almost, Maine; and Pippin. In addition, HOOLIGAN operates an ArstE department, through which UCLA students teach performing arts skills in local middle and high schools. Since 2006, HOOLIGAN has worked to raise artistic awareness and help foster a larger thespian community in the Greater Los Angeles area. HOOLIGAN strongly believes that everyone should have the opportunity to be involved with theatre on and off stage as it brings a unique joy, knowledge, and experience to performers, crew, and spectators alike.
Footloose will run Friday, April 14th, Saturday, April 15th, and Sunday, April 16th at the UCLA Freud Playhouse. Tickets are available through the UCLA Central Ticket Office at (310) 825 – 2101 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. General Admission is $30, UCLA Faculty and Staff are $25, non-UCLA students with a student ID are $15, and groups of 6 or more are $23. UCLA students, as always, enter free, but must pick up a voucher at CTO, and are limited to one ticket per Bruincard. If the show is sold out, students are encouraged to show up early for student rush. This is one show you won’t want to miss!
