JetEight selected as Top 10 Global Smart Transportation & Energy Startup

03-21-2017 12:17 PM CET | Logistics & Transport

Press release from: JetEight

After several intense selection days, Berliner startup JetEight has been selected as one of the twelve start-ups to join the prestigious acceleration program of Startupbootcamp. “The all-you-can-fly subscription airline is set to launch later this year, and the program will be the ideal springboard to get the firm off the ground” says its founder Ruben Portz.

Startupbootcamp Smart Transportation & Energy is the leading global start-up accelerator with a focus on the connected and efficient mobility of people and goods. The accelerator provides funding, mentorship, and office space in the heart of Berlin and access to a global network of corporate partners, mentors, and investors, for selected start-ups across the globe. For three months, the teams will work in Berlin’s Rainmaking Loft, a 1,000sqm start-up hub. They collaborate with over 150 corporate partners, mentors, and investors to build world class smart transportation & energy products.

“We are eager to work together with the program’s partners like Airbus, Cisco, HERE, Kuehne + Nagel, Mercedes-Benz, SBB Cargo and VINCI” says JetEight’s founder Ruben Portz. “We see great opportunities to for instance cooperate and design full door-to-door travel experiences once JetEight is off the ground”. These partners allow the accelerator to provide expertise, market exposure, and access to a network of company professionals that most early-stage start-ups would not be able to otherwise access.

“This was intense” – says Lisa Makarova, the co-founder of JetEight. “But it was greatly rewarding, as well.” Out of 288 global applications JetEight was invited to present their concept at the selection days in Berlin. During two days of 30-minute rotations the team discussed the ins and outs of the all-you-can-fly concepts with mentors, investors, and corporate partners. “We have gotten a lot of inspirational ideas to consider and potentially implement before the program start”. Now the JetEight founders have four weeks to prepare for moving in the Rainmaking Loft.
About JetEight

JetEight is Germany’s first private air travel club offering its members unlimited flights between European business hubs. It works like this: JetEight determines the flight schedule in cooperation with certified private jet operators, after which its members can book as many of those flights as they would like for €2,500 monthly. Although it might seem more expensive than Air Berlin or Lufthansa, the time saved by JetEight could be worth the difference. Members no longer waste time in security lines or slow boarding processes due to the use of private terminals and small business jets. Taking the value of this time into account, it easily becomes an attractive offer to consider.

The details of the model might change during the accelerator program, but as of today JetEight aims to launch mid-2017 between Berlin, Frankfurt, and Zürich; and members can already sign-up for the growing waitlist. JetEight was initiated by students of ESMT Berlin – a leading European business school – and has attracted industry experts to support them.
