The relationship, a first of its kind in the category, to boost Network Security throughout the businesses in India through Joint Marketing efforts

New Delhi – June 24, 2008 – WatchGuard® Technologies, a leading global provider of network security solutions, today announced that it has entered into a first-of-its-kind, one stop strategic partnership with Dell India to offer businesses throughout India, enterprise wide solutions that are integrated with WatchGuard’s family of award-winning Unified Threat Management (UTM) network security appliances.

WatchGuard will collaborate with DELL to share resources to reach to approximately 500,000 small-to-medium-sized enterprises with Dell’s renowned computer systems and WatchGuard’s industry-leading UTM appliances. It is for the first time in India that the country’s small and mid-size business enterprise customers can purchase complete, end-to-end IT and network security solutions from a single source – Dell.

The partnership provides an opportunity to consolidate core competencies and focus on providing integrated solutions to enterprises in India, viz – bundling of Dell servers for network connectivity as well securing the network through WatchGuard unparalleled UTM solutions. WatchGuard has been operating in India for close to a decade and provides best-of-breed security solutions backed by worldwide service.

“Both WatchGuard and Dell consider India a strategic market, and we are coming together to jointly address the growing requirements and the rapid uptake in technology adoption in the enterprise marketplace. This alliance will provide what enterprises today want – integrated end to end solutions, from one vendor. The network solutions coupled with security options that help mitigate security risks, including anti-virus, spam, and application-layer threats in one, multifunction security appliance, will be a win-win solution for the customer,” said Sunil Sapra, Country Manager, India & SAARC, WatchGuard Technologies. “Working closely with Dell offers us strategic synergies, as their enterprise solutions as well as ours are targeted at a common customer. Jointly, we will ensure that Indian enterprises benefit from optimal network interoperability, performance and network security.”

Dell and WatchGuard

Under the agreement, Dell will offer WatchGuard Firebox® X UTM appliances as part of Dell’s solutions offerings to its customers in India. In addition, WatchGuard and Dell will jointly develop marketing and business development plans to reach hundreds of thousands of businesses nationwide.

Now, businesses in India will enjoy a single source for network planning, first-rate security solutions and best practices for management and maintenance of IT and network security systems.

WatchGuard UTM Appliances Complement Dell Solutions

The WatchGuard Firebox X family of UTM appliances is a perfect complement to Dell’s industry-acclaimed line of desktop, notebook and server solutions – combining best price/performance capabilities and integration of cutting-edge technology for ease of use, manageability and maintenance.

All WatchGuard UTM solutions provide SSL VPN capabilities for remote and mobile-worker connectivity. Moreover, they all utilise WatchGuard’s Application Proxy firewall technology, providing greater security than packet-filtering appliances that only inspect the bottom three to four layers of the OSI communication model (physical, datalink, network and transport) – leaving several layers, including the application layer 7, vulnerable to exploitation. By enforcing deep-packet inspection, in concert with Application Proxy firewall technology, WatchGuard UTM appliances inspect all seven layers; thus, providing unmatched, holistic network security.
