Why Curves and Colour Keep the Home Office Organised

Amsterdam, 14 March 2017 – For some, a home office is just a place to deal with paperwork. For the self-employed, it’s where they do most of their paid work. Either way, keeping that space organised makes all the difference to efficiency. Yet in any home office, it’s difficult to keep the “space invaders” at bay: day-to-day clutter, frequent interruptions and piles of paper all detract from what should be a focused working environment. • Curves for concentration
Switching from a flat to a curved display can help reduce distraction and minimise eyestrain. A curved display focuses on the most important person: the user. By wrapping gently around the line of vision, it creates a greater sense of personal space, shutting out what’s happening in the background and making the viewing experience far more immersive. Given the amount of distraction in a typical home office, the wraparound concentration of curved displays has the potential to make a huge difference. The latest Philips curved displays offer a 1800 mm curvature radius, which creates an increased perception of depth with less picture distortion and richer contrast at the edges of the screen. Enhancing the immersive effect, the displays also have an ultra-narrow bezel to maximise the screen space.

The two latest curved displays from MMD with Ultra Wide Color technology are the 40-inch BDM4037UW and the 27-inch 278E8QJAB. The first one offers a 40-inch LCD display – the largest curved display on the market with 4K UHD display resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels). It also uses advanced multi-domain vertical alignment technology which results in super-high static contrast ratios for extra vivid and bright images. As many Philips display with 32 or more inches, the Philips BDM4037UW features MultiView that allows multiple inputs at the same time. This makes multitasking even easier. The newest member of the line-up, the 278E8QJAB with a 27-inch display, is just the right size for smaller spaces. It features excellent connectivity, as well as
1920 x 1080 pixels.

• Clear colourful images
A curved display is most effective when features such as colour reproduction are also just right. Ultra Wide Color technology, standard in the latest Philips curved displays, offers a wider colour gamut for accurate colour reproduction. This is useful for various tasks. Users of graphics applications, for example, can rely on the accurate reproduction of Ultra Wide Color to achieve a perfect match between on-screen colour and real life. The 278E8QJAB is the Philips monitor that has a colour gamut available with 130% sRGB based on CIE 1931 (104% NTSC based in CIE 1976) gamut as opposed to the typical 99% sRGB (72% NTSC).
