Press release from: Brown McCarroll, L.L.P.

EL PASO, TX - Brown McCarroll, L.L.P. is pleased to announce that Kathleen Campbell Walker, a partner and head of the firm's Immigration & International Trade Group, has been invited by the Council on Foreign Relations to join its Independent Task Force on Immigration Policy.

The group's mission is to "broaden the debate by analyzing issues of globalization, economic competitiveness, terrorism, and national security, as well as the international aspects of illegal immigration," according to Richard N. Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations. "The Task Force will then craft recommendations for a twenty-first century immigration policy that serves U.S. economic, diplomatic, and national security interests."

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush and former White House chief of staff Thomas "Mack" McLarty will co-chair the Task Force, and Edward Alden, senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, will direct the project.

Ms. Walker is board certified in immigration and nationality law and serves as national president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, an affiliated organization of the American Bar Association with more than 11,000 lawyers. Her practice focuses on business immigration law, consular processing, worksite compliance and employer sanctions, as well as admission, citizenship, and naturalization issues.

Ms. Walker has testified numerous times before state and federal governmental bodies regarding border security, immigration reform and related issues and is a frequent expert resource on immigration matters for national news media. In 2007, she was named one of five top lawyers for the State of Texas in immigration law in the "Go-To" Guide published by Texas Lawyer. In addition, in 2007 she was named as one of the Top 50 women lawyers in the state in the Super Lawyers® publication in Texas Monthly.
