intelligent RTU market to grow at a CAGR of 7.24% during the period 2017-2021

Market Research Analysts forecast the global intelligent RTU market to grow at a CAGR of 7.24% during the period 2017-2021.

RTU is a control device that helps the master device, SCADA, to monitor and communicate with devices in the grid placed in different geographical locations. RTUs can be used in a broad range of electrical and process automation devices wherever SCADA is required to monitor and control the equipment. They are used to collect data from field equipment and communicate the commands from the master device. This can be done through a wired connection (telephone line, cables, or Ethernet) or wireless connection. The data is sent to the operator in real time so that they are aware of the complete grid situation and make any necessary changes to the grid. RTUs are used in substations to increase automation, leading to the optimal distribution of power. They also correct any anomalies that can result in loss of power in transmission and distribution (T&D), reducing equipment damage, and improving power quality and reliability. RTUs can be used in water treatment and distribution plants, power T&D, and monitoring and controlling of oil and gas lines.
