Alfonzo Blackwell's New CD "Dance To This"

New York, NY – Well, you "usually" can't dance to Smooth Jazz...but Alfonzo Blackwell makes you wanna "Dance To This"!

2008 is the year for a new jazz order. Alfonzo Blackwell is changing the music game through exciting and provocative strategies. His latest and 7th CD “Dance To This” was released on April 29, 2008 and is heading up the music charts on a steady climb. This new Hit CD is critically acclaimed. Each track is an instant classic. Tracks like “Back It Up”, “Take A Look”, “Talkin’ Saxy” and the title track, “Dance To This” makes this latest project a true signature piece album of his stellar music catalog to date. You won’t be able to sit still once you’ve pressed play. It’s the highest anticipated CD release of Alfonzo’s career.

He recently kicked off his new release at Club Sambuca in Atlanta, GA. He received an outstanding welcome in the ATL from his numerous fans. The crowd was pumped up and everything partied with Mr. Blackwell through the night. The event was sponsored by Smooth Jazz 107.5 WJZZ and Classic Cadillac presents “Smooth Jazz Live After Hours From Sambuca”. It was an amazing event. Radio personalities and a few celebrities came down to join in the festivities.

In the beginning of Alfonzo Blackwell’s career, the mission that he was on since his debut back in 1995 was to bridge the gap between Contemporary Smooth Jazz and soulful R&B/Hip Hop Funk. Alfonzo has always had his eyes on the pulse of what’s Hot and what’s Not, coming from the shedding ranks of jazz legends such as the late greats Miles Davis and John Coltrane. He was bread off these magnetic musicians/performers.

He ushered in a new music movement, “Rhythm & Cool” back with his debut hit CD, “Let’s Imagine…” Well, he urged listeners to get out of their seats and dance and have fun and feel good inside with tracks like “Can’t Stop The Funk” , “Uptown” and a jazz/funk cover of Mary J Blige’s classic “Love No Limit” just to list a few. “This is what music was meant to be…it feels good and it’s good to feel it” says Mr. Blackwell. “My message through my music is my voice, calling attention to all and I want people to feel me and where I’m at in my music journey…”. He also goes on to say, “There’s no sleepy time at any of my performance shows, I want everyone to get up on that floor and dance, like the late great James Brown declared.”

Alfonzo Blackwell has been in the music business for almost 15 years now and he has paid his dues. He paid the cost to be the Boss. He is the Founder and President/CEO of Utopia Records, Inc. Like in the era of Miles and Coltrane, Alfonzo has created his own brand of music that will be studied in classrooms of the future. Alfonzo is an accomplished songwriter/producer, composer and arranger. He has not only mastered the saxophones, he is a skilled pianist, guitarist, bassist and drummer. Jazz has finally evolved and has reached to the heights of this legend in the making, Alfonzo Blackwell. This triple, no quadruple threat is working on a couple of artists debut releases for the end of the year through his label and is working on two notable major label vocalists CD projects. At this time, names were not able to be disclosed at press time.

Contemporary Jazz music has a new man behind it, and that man’s name is Alfonzo Blackwell. He is the one to watch in 2008 and beyond.
