Event Spotlight on Opioid Addiction at 17th Annual Pain Therapeutics Summit Featuring Cara Therapeutics, Nektar and Pharmaleads

SMi Group’s 17th Annual Pain Therapeutics conference will return to Central London on 22nd & 23rd May 2017 with an event spotlight on opioid addiction.

Created with a scientific advisory board, the programme will hone in on new approaches to pain therapy and analgesic drugs, as well as look at the practicalities of using animal models and translational biomarkers in pain research.

The spotlight on opioid addiction will feature 3 keynotes presenting new clinical updates:

1. A NOVEL APPROCH TO MANAGING ACUTE AND CHRONIC PAIN WITH CARA THERAPEUTICS: Chief Medical Officer, Dr Joseph Stauffer, reviews the Kappa opioid receptor and presents CR845 data on human abuse liability, post-operative and chronic pain.

2. NEKTAR PHARMACEUTICALS SEPERATE ANALGESIA FROM EUPHORIA WITH NKTR-181: Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer, Dr Stephen Doberstein, explores engineering the brain entry rate of MOR agonists to reduce liability and presents findings from both a pre-clinical and clinical analysis.

3. PHARMALEADS ENHANCE ENDOGENOUS OPIOID CONCENTRATIONS AS A NOVEL TREATMENT FOR SEVERE PAIN: Head of Clinical Operations, Dr Tanja Ouimet, unveils clinical results obtained with PL37 and the development of PL265, the first dual ENKephalinase inhibitors (DENKIs) to reach the clinic.

The panel of speakers from Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and USA, and will also feature Amgen, Apollo Therapeutics, AstraZeneca, Centrexion Therapeutics, Eli Lilly, Grunenthal, MSD - USA, Mundipharma, Novartis and Zoetis.
