Bud Crouch of Douglas County, GA, created his ergonomically shaped mobile desk for people who use their vehicles as a mobile office. The idea was generated in July 2005 while Crouch was on a ride-along with Deputy Paulk with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Paulk’s vehicle was not equipped with a mounted computer, so he resorted to wedging his ticket booklet between the steering column and himself to create a stable surface to place his laptop while writing reports.

According to Crouch “Watching Deputy Paulk do that for the first time I instantly saw a need and told him I could create something for him to make it easier to use his computer”.

After months of creating different prototypes, Crouch finally developed the perfect solution. The BuddyDesk is a sleek, lightweight portable desk that mounts to a vehicle’s steering wheel in seconds, providing a flat surface to place a laptop, do paperwork, or simply eat lunch. Designed to slide through the lower part of a vehicle’s steering wheel and rest upon the back edge of the steering column, the BuddyDesk’s patent-pending technology allows the user to remain in an upright, comfortable position, eliminating the need to twist to reach a computer or rest a hot computer on their lap.
