Port Townsend Map Company Launches Comprehensive Washington State Winery Map

(Port Townsend, Washington; May 17, 2008)—The Map Company, based in Port Townsend, Washington is releasing of the Washington State Winery Map. The road map serves as a guide to wineries in Washington State. It provides necessary information for wine enthusiasts to easily locate wineries and plan their visits. The Washington State Winery Map fills a need for a widely distributed and readily accessible folding road map that is available at many locations throughout the state. This year, all Washington State Best Western Hotel locations are making the new map available to their guests. The map will be very helpful in informing and guiding their travelers to local wineries.

The full color map is a standard 33x22-inch road map that folds to fit into a car’s glove compartment. One side of the map features a comprehensive Washington State road map; the other side includes regional maps showing winery locations on the state’s 9 wine producing regions, these include Puget Sound, Seattle, Woodinville, Yakima Valley, Tri-Cities, Walla Walla, Spokane, Columbia Gorge and North Central Washington. A complete alphabetical index lists the name, location, and contact information for wineries. A border printed on both sides of the map features reproductions of wine bottle labels from participating wineries. The inclusion of the labels is a strong visual reminder of the thriving Washington State wine industry, and serves to reinforce each winery’s respective brand.

Washington state’s wine industry has exploded in the last two decades, from fewer than 20 wineries in 1981 to over 400 today. The state is home to over 30,000 acres of wine grapes, and the industry is worth close to $3 billion to the states economy.

The Map Company will begin immediate statewide distribution of the maps to its customer base, which includes convenience stores, specialty wine shops, and winery tasting rooms.
