Rosemont College Cultural Heritage Gallery Presents "Rosemont Irish History" - Two Public Presentations Celebrate Campus Legacy on March 25, 2026

Rosemont, PA - March 17, 2026 - Rosemont College proudly announces two engaging presentations open to the public that highlight the rich Irish history woven into the fabric of the institution. On March 25, 2026, the Cultural Heritage Gallery will present two dynamic programs exploring the people, traditions, and stories that continue to shape campus life.

The afternoon begins at 3:30 p.m. in the Main Building with a presentation focused on Irish women featured in the critically acclaimed book All Bones Considered: 52 Laurel Hill Women. Rosemont graduate and artist Chris Wilhelm, who created the original drawings for the book, will return to campus to lead the discussion. Through art and storytelling, attendees will discover the resilience and leadership of Irish women whose lives left a lasting impact and connect local heritage to broader narratives of courage and community.

Following the first session, guests will enjoy Irish music along with a cocktail hour featuring food and refreshments.

At 4:00 p.m., also in the Main Building, the second presentation-"The Hooves on the Hill: Irish Equestrian Heritage"-will explore the equestrian traditions that once defined campus life and how land stewardship and social exchange shaped the College community. The lecture will highlight the legacy of the Sinnott family, who built Rathalla (today the Main Building) as their home, with Mayfield residence hall formerly serving as the horse stable. It will also examine the influence of the McShain family, including John McShain's contributions to numerous campus buildings and his renowned construction of Washington, D.C. landmarks. Rosemont students who recently traveled to Ireland and visited Killarney House-acquired by John McShain in 1956-will share highlights from their experience. The presentation further spotlights the Rosemont Equestrian Club and the College's storied architecture.

These programs invite the public and the entire Rosemont community to celebrate the enduring influence of Irish history on campus culture and mission.
