Traffic jam at the entrance to the popular Parc de la Mar underground car park in Palma

New platform brings together all parking areas, car parks and underground garages with up-to-date prices, opening hours, maps and tips for a more relaxed arrival

Palma is one of the most visited destinations in the Mediterranean - and that is precisely what can make arriving by car a real test of patience, especially during the high season. As a result, a trip to Palma often begins not in a relaxed way, but with the search for a parking space. In 2024, the island recorded around 13.4 million tourists, a significant number of whom visit the island's capital by rental car. Especially on days with many day-trippers, this regularly leads to heavy traffic, full access roads and long queues outside centrally located car parks and underground garages.

For many visitors, this is not only annoying but can quickly become expensive as well. Anyone unfamiliar with Palma often loses valuable holiday time while searching for parking, drives unnecessary loops through city traffic or accidentally ends up in areas with special access restrictions. A major source of uncertainty is the low-emission zone in the centre of Palma, which has been in force since the end of December 2024. In addition, there are the ACIRE zones, where access is also restricted. This is precisely where many day visitors unfamiliar with the city and rental car drivers face an unnecessary cost trap, with fines of up to 200 euros.

This is exactly where PalmaParking.Info comes in. The portal is aimed specifically at tourists and is designed to help them prepare better for their next trip to Palma. On an interactive map, PalmaParking.Info brings together all public parking areas, car parks and underground garages in Palma and supplements them with up-to-date prices, opening hours, navigation data and distances to important sights. This allows travellers to assess before setting off which parking option best suits their route, budget and preferred destinations in Palma.

Another added value of the portal is the direct comparison of parking fees. Instead of heading for the first car park they come across, visitors can compare different options in advance - from centrally located underground garages to cheaper alternatives outside the city centre. According to the current overview, prices for parking spaces range from 1.25 to 3.00 euros per hour.

The offer is complemented by information on low-cost and free parking options, park-and-ride facilities on the outskirts of the city, as well as clear maps for navigating the city centre safely - without falling into the trap of the low-emission zone or the ACIRE zones.

The portal also offers a tangible benefit for visitors who do not want to, or cannot, walk long distances: parking options near popular sights can be selected specifically via the interactive map. In this way, PalmaParking.Info aims to ensure that the next visit to the island's capital does not begin with parking frustration, but as relaxed as possible. The portal is currently available in English, German and Spanish and sees itself as an independent source of information for visitors to Palma.

"Many tourists look forward to Palma - only to start their day with traffic, uncertainty and avoidable stress," says Sascha Ropertz, operator of PalmaParking.Info. "This is exactly where the portal is meant to help: with clear maps, easy-to-understand information and practical tips, so that visitors can find the right parking option more quickly and begin their stay in a relaxed way."
