Rwanda has announced new gorilla trekking prices for 2026. These updated prices apply to gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and are intended to support travel during the low season. For international travelers, the regular gorilla trekking permit price remains USD 1,500 during peak season.
During the low season in 2026, international travelers may access a conditional permit price of USD 1,050. This represents a USD 450 reduction from the standard rate.
This rate is limited and subject to availability. In our experience handling permit requests, low-season permits can still sell out when travel dates are fixed.
Rwandan citizens and East African Community citizens continue to pay USD 200 per permit.
African citizens and African residents may access a reduced price of USD 500, provided they present valid residency documentation.
What does the USD 1,050 gorilla permit include?
A gorilla trekking permit in Rwanda only includes the trekking experience. This covers park entry, ranger, conservation fees, and assignment to one gorilla family. It does not include accommodation, transport, meals, porters, tips, or private guiding services. When we book permits for our clients, we always explain this clearly to avoid confusion at the park.
