The "kink" in the label ensures the necessary distance between the chip and the metal ( (C) S+P Samson GmbH).

The "kink" in the label ensures the necessary distance between the chip and the metal ( (C) S+P Samson GmbH).

From 13 to 17 April 2026, the world's leading trade fair for the wire and cable industry, wire, will open its doors in Duesseldorf. The event will see the industry facing a key challenge: the seamless digitalisation of the supply chain under extreme conditions. S+P Samson GmbH, a specialist in industrial marking with over 45 years' experience, will be presenting pioneering solutions that go far beyond the classic barcode in Hall 12 (Stand B61).

Automation with RFID
Efficiency without search times. A key focus of the exhibition will be the intelligent combination of robust hang tags with cutting-edge RFID technology. Conventional labels often reach their limits, especially in wire and tube processing, where mechanical stress and aggressive environments are the norm. S+P Samson's ID4track (R) solutions demonstrate how RFID bulk reading can eliminate the need for manual counting processes, creating almost complete transparency in near real time through time-accurate, object-related event data -- from goods receipt to worldwide shipping.

AI-ready: unique object identity as a prerequisite for scalable AI
The current AI boom in production and logistics can only be economically viable if every physical object can be uniquely identified and consistently recognised. Robust labels and RFID technology establish the necessary connection between physical goods and digital data streams, forming the basis for AI-supported analyses throughout the value chain.
o Quality AI: assignment of surface and process deviations to coil/batch via unique IDs.
o Predictive maintenance: pattern recognition from fault and process data along identified material runs.
o Logistics AI: anomaly detection in inventories and material flows based on reliable
RFID events.

GRAPHIPLAST (R): Robustness meets digitalisation
As well as radio technology, the focus is on proven GRAPHIPLAST (R) labels. Designed for the tough requirements of the industry, they are tear-resistant, weather-resistant and can withstand extreme temperatures. At wire 2026, S+P Samson will demonstrate how these data carriers act as a physical link between the product and the IT system, ensuring traceability even under the toughest conditions.

Industry 4.0 expertise
'wire 2026 is the ideal platform for us to demonstrate that labelling is now a key factor in the success of logistics operations,' says Dr Christof M. Stotko, Managing Director of S+P Samson GmbH. 'Our customers are not looking for labels; they are looking for process reliability. With our systems, we measurably reduce search times and enable material flows to be automated. We can quantify the effect in a KPI-based pilot setup on request (e.g. search time, inventory time, incorrect bookings). '
Visitors are invited to discuss their specific labelling requirements with the experts at the stand and experience the performance of the solutions for themselves.
