Back2TheWater Retreat Returns: Transforming Fear Into Lifesaving Confidence
Back2TheWaterTM, a transformational swim-safety retreat designed for Black women ages 55 and over, announced plans for its upcoming 2026 retreat and is inviting corporate sponsors and philanthropic partners to support the expansion of its proven, life-saving program.Founded by global nomad and community advocate Diamond Crystal, Back2TheWaterTM addresses a longstanding gap in swim education and water safety among older Black women-many of whom were never taught to swim due to historical, cultural, and systemic barriers.
In its 2025 inaugural cohort, Back2TheWaterTM served eight Black women ages 35-70, all of whom completed three days of immersive swim instruction with three sessions per day. 100% of participants achieved basic water safety, reporting reduced fear, increased confidence, and the ability to independently navigate shallow water. Several participants entered the program unable to submerge their faces or float and exited swimming independently for the first time in their lives.
"This program goes beyond swim lessons," said Crystal. "It's about prevention, dignity, and ensuring women who have spent decades avoiding water can finally feel safe and empowered."
Proven Impact, Expanding Reach
The Back2TheWaterTM model combines:
• Trauma-informed swim instruction
• Culturally responsive teaching methods
• Emotional regulation and embodiment practices
• Community-based support and peer encouragement
The program's success demonstrates that meaningful progress in water safety can be achieved in a short, focused timeframe when instruction is tailored to lived experience.
Sponsorship Opportunities
As preparations for the 2026 retreat move forward, Back2TheWaterTM is seeking financial and in-kind sponsors aligned with wellness, prevention, safety, travel, beauty, and lifestyle sectors. Sponsorship support will directly underwrite swim instruction, facilities, participant access, and program expansion.
Sponsors will receive visibility through media coverage, digital platforms, on-site recognition, and inclusion in ongoing storytelling initiatives focused on generational wellness and embodied safety.
"This is a rare opportunity for brands to invest in measurable impact while addressing an often-overlooked public health and equity issue," Crystal added.
Looking Ahead
The 2026 Back2TheWaterTM Retreat returns to Colombia, SA., aiming to increase participant capacity, strengthen national partnerships, and lay the foundation for long-term sponsorship relationships committed to water safety and generational change.
Organizations interested in sponsorship or partnership opportunities are encouraged to connect.
