FieldBots and KONE collaborate to bring brand-independent elevator access to cleaning robots across the DACH region

FieldBots and KONE collaborate to bring brand-independent elevator access to cleaning robots across the DACH region

FieldBots GmbH has signed a partnership agreement with KONE, one of the world's leading providers of elevators and escalators. The collaboration enables manufacturers, dealers and fleet operators in Germany, Austria and Switzerland to connect cleaning robots with elevators directly through the FieldBots platform - independent of the elevator's and cleaning robot's make or model. The cooperation begins in the DACH markets and will be evaluated for expansion to further European countries and global deployments together with fleet customers and KONE.

Within FieldBots, users can now create elevator assets just as they would add robots or locations. The system automatically requests the relevant data needed to make the elevator compatible with autonomous cleaning operations. Once the configuration is complete, FieldBots forwards the request to its service partner KONE. KONE then manages the required retrofit or modernization so that the elevator can be controlled seamlessly through FieldBots.

This workflow introduces, for the first time, a scalable manufacturer-agnostic approach to elevator connectivity for service robotics. By integrating elevator management directly into fleet operations, FieldBots removes one of the key obstacles to fully autonomous multi-floor cleaning. Both elevator and robot models can now be combined flexibly, giving operators and distributors new freedom in how they deploy their fleets.

"For several years, we have been thinking about how elevator usage can be scaled credibly for cleaning robotics," says Alexander Feil, Managing Director of FieldBots GmbH. "Until now, many projects relied on custom scripts or direct manufacturer integrations - but with such a diverse landscape of elevators and robots, such models cannot be sustained. With KONE as our partner, and with their service structure available to our DACH users, we now have a realistic and scalable approach for fleets of all sizes."

Andreas Backer, Product Manager Digital Solutions DACH at KONE, adds: "KONE provided an open API early on to enable partners to build securely on our elevator solutions. We are pleased to have FieldBots join our partner ecosystem and follow the development of service robotics with great interest. We support FieldBots with our expertise and service organization throughout the DACH region."

The integration is part of FieldBots 5.8 and available to all FieldBots users.
