BWCon 1.400 Fire Protection Trough: certified safety for the storage of flammable liquids
_Bad Urach, January 21, 2026 - The safe storage of flammable liquids is a key challenge for many industrial companies. With the BWCon 1,400 Fire Protection Trough, Minimax Mobile Services offers a solution that not only complies with legal requirements but also meets the high standards of leading industrial insurer FM Global. The product is FM APPROVED and thus officially recognized as effective in terms of fire protection.Minimax Mobile Services has been selling the fire protection tray for over 10 years as part of a comprehensive fire protection concept for industry and commerce. Numerous companies - especially in the chemical and manufacturing industries - already rely on this proven solution for the safe storage of flammable liquids.
Background: Why fire protection troughs are indispensable
Intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) holding up to 1,000 liters of flammable liquids are often used in production and storage areas. In the event of a fire, these containers can pose a considerable risk: the plastic IBC melts in less than a minute; the leaking liquid and spread of flames cause significant property damage and endanger human lives. The BWCon 1.400 was developed to minimize precisely these risks.
Difference from conventional collection trays
Unlike classic collection trays, which merely collect leaking liquids, the BWCon 1.400 protects against the uncontrolled spread of fire at the IBC and thus against damage to people and buildings thanks to two special features: The flame arrestor reliably prevents a fire from spreading further by extinguishing spilled burning liquid when it is collected ("flame barrier"). The high steel side walls and the splash guard on the front further reduce the risk of flames spreading to neighboring stored goods or adjacent areas. The BWCon 1,400 really comes into its own when used in combination with sprinkler systems: the 1,400-liter collection volume effectively prevents overflow during the extinguishing process.
This often prevents or significantly reduces economic consequential damage due to production losses after a fire. The BWCon 1,400 thus not only meets environmental protection requirements, but also those for personal and property protection and effective damage prevention, as required by insurers and safety officers.
Technical features and advantages
* FM Approved certification: tested according to the strict guidelines of FM Global
* Integrated flame arrestor: leaking flammable liquid is extinguished and shielded
* High side walls made of galvanized steel: prevent uncontrolled spread of the fire and shield the fire from adjacent stored goods and people in the vicinity
* Suitable for sprinkler systems thanks to overflow protection: total collection volume of 1,400 liters, for 1,000 liters of liquid from the IBC plus 400 liters of extinguishing water
* Flexibility: accessible by forklift, ideal for temporary storage in production areas
