Sub Headline: AIKO Secures No. 1 Position All Year as 10 Manufacturers Demonstrate Sustained Top-10 Performance

Düsseldorf / Hyderabad | January 9, 2026

TaiyangNews has announced the recipients of its TOP SOLAR MODULES 2025 Badge of Excellence, recognizing solar panel manufacturers that demonstrated consistent top-tier performance across 2025 in its globally tracked monthly efficiency rankings.

Introduced as an extension of the TOP SOLAR MODULES initiative, the Badge of Excellence is awarded annually to companies that feature in the global TOP 10 solar module efficiency rankings for at least six months in a calendar year. The recognition highlights not only peak efficiency achievements but also consistency in commercial execution, product availability, and technology progression.

In its third edition now, the Badge of Excellence 2025 has been awarded to 10 vertically integrated module manufacturers with internal cell production facilities: AIKO, Astronergy, DMEGC Solar, Huasun Energy, JA Solar, JinkoSolar, LONGi, Maxeon, Tongwei Solar, and Trinasolar. All but one are from China, but even the only non-Chinese producer (Maxeon) is now majority-owned by a Chinese company.

AIKO, the leader in back contact (BC) solar cell technology, clearly stands out, holding the No. 1 position for all 12 months of 2025 without sharing the top spot at any point during the year.

Other manufacturers demonstrated sustained strength across a range of advanced technologies. LONGi, another leader in BC cell technology, secured the No. 2 position for most of the year, while Huasun Energy's heterojunction (HJT) modules maintained a top-5 presence throughout 2025. Astronergy, DMEGC Solar, and JA Solar also featured in the top 10 every month, albeit with modest ranking fluctuations. Their products are based on TOPCon cell technology, which is used by the majority of the 10 Badge of Excellence winners.

Trinasolar earned inclusion in the 2025 winners' list by appearing in the top 10 for eight months, and even climbed to a top 3 rank towards the end of the year, while Tongwei Solar remained in the top 10 for nine months, and JinkoSolar qualified by meeting the six-month threshold.

An awardee in 2024, SPIC, did not qualify this year, having appeared in the top 10 for only four months, falling short of the eligibility requirement.
Commenting on the 2025 results, Michael Schmela, Managing Director of TaiyangNews, said:

"The Badge of Excellence is not about one-off efficiency records of lab modules or models on display at trade shows - it's about sustained performance in commercially available products. Based on our monthly TaiyangNews TOP SOLAR MODULES ranking, it provides a great overview of the cell and module technology leaders the market."

The 2025 Badge of Excellence was published together with the TaiyangNews TOP SOLAR MODULES Analysis Report 2025, which presents a comprehensive, data-driven benchmark of the highest-performing commercially available photovoltaic modules. Covering data from January 2024 to December 2025, the 7th edition of this report highlights a decisive shift in the industry toward advanced cell technologies and a rapid migration to higher efficiency bands, even as the overall number of listed products declines. The report is available for free download on the TaiyangNews website (https://taiyangnews.info/reports/top-solar-modules-2025).
