Solid wood kitchen in ash from the exhibition for the next generation

A young couple of doctors fell in love with the M?belmacher exhibition kitchen and when planning together with managing director herwig Danzer, they quickly realized how it could be perfectly integrated into their parents' home after removing a wall.

What a lovely background story: the customer had already modelled as a child together with her little brother and Laura Danzer in her parents' wardrobe, which was new at the time, and she is - for us - still easily recognizable and a fine example of the next generation. Just like Leopold in the Miele romper, Laura's now five-year-old son.

The two of them were delighted with the grain of the brown-grained ash, the special drawers for cutlery, cooking utensils and baking trays, as well as the appliances including a steamer, Tepan Yaki and induction wok.

Despite numerous cooking workshops and other wild events, the three years in the showroom did nothing to the wood or the ceramic sink worktop. On the contrary: after re-oiling the fronts and the worktop of the cooking island, the kitchen was indistinguishable from a new one, but was now more stable and had also learned how to cook during this time.

The kitchen, which was built in September 2021, is the most extensively documented of all, because every step of the assembly process, from the idea to the first cooking, was documented in the exhibition with many videos. In its new home, it now gives the impression that it was planned specifically for this space, even though the original two-row kitchen has been transformed into a three-row kitchen.

The third row consists of the free-standing fridge, the tall oven unit and the original wine cabinet, which was removed from the tall unit and replaced with shelves and a glass panel door. For the sake of the toe of the barefoot cook, the fridge has been placed on additional feet, which requires a rather special construction because the door fitting has to be supported on the floor.

We had to shorten the cooking island by around 20 centimetres, but everyone is happy

It's always great luck for everyone involved when customers are happy with showroom kitchens and they also fit into their rooms. At the moment, the cherry wood version, which is almost identical to the ash kitchen, or the height-adjustable oak kitchen could soon be leaving Unterkrumbach again.

The company was founded in 1988 in Hersbruck near Nuremberg as a holistically oriented furniture manufacturer. In 1997, the newly founded Die M?belmacher GmbH, which now has around 15 employees, moved into the new ecological building in Unterkrumbach, where furniture and kitchens are custom-made from solid wood from the region.
The range is complemented by the complete furnishing of kitchens, living and working environments, from lighting and upholstered furniture to curtains and even hi-fi systems made from local wood. They have been awarded the Sustainability Prize of the City of Nuremberg, named Bavaria's environmental ambassador, won the Thalhofer Prize and, since the 2005 Craftsmanship Prize, they have been one of the seven best German craft businesses. In 2010, they won the German Local Sustainability Award. In 2021 and 2022, they were nominated for the Lammsbr?u Sustainability Award and the German Sustainability Award "Local Hero", also in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, they won the IGR's Ergonomics Innovation Award, and in 2024, their workshop was named the most beautiful in Germany by the jury of the trade magazine DDS. On November 28, 2024, they won the German Sustainability Award 2025 in the furniture and furnishings category.
