Self-optimization or today we celebrate - tomorrow we will be better ( (C) WAHLUNIVERSUM (R) / Jessica Wahl )

It's that special night again: the big, sparkling threshold between yesterday and tomorrow - between raclette leftovers and the cool utopia of our New Year's resolutions. Today, only one thing counts: wine, champagne, laughter - and the small, rebellious experiment of enjoying something after midnight, even though your inner coach is already sounding the alarm.

It's the same every year: in December we hear the glowing promises. "Everything will be different this year!" And in January? "Well, at least one resolution has lasted ... er ... three days!" No wonder. Our good intentions are often like Christmas cookies: wonderfully ideal in theory, surprisingly difficult in real life.

The illusion of an instantly better you

We believe that a new year automatically triggers an upgrade. In reality, change begins where our everyday life awaits us: with the first sip of coffee, while cat videos flicker across the screen, between unread emails. Not on a to-do list with ten heroic resolutions, but in the simple question: "What will really get me further - and feel good at the same time?"

The life that happens in between

While we rush through our resolutions, real life just goes on. The chaos, the little joys, the unexpected moments - a missed train, a spontaneous laugh with friends, the taste of warm apple pie still hanging in the air, or the moment when the first ray of sunshine breaks through the window and bathes the room in a soft light. These small spaces in between are often what actually change us - not the heroic idea of "getting better".

The inner coach and the truth about change

And there is the inner coach. The one who reminds us of the to-do list with a slightly annoyed look and insists that success is only possible if we immediately transform into our perfect selves. But what this coach often forgets is that change doesn't work at the push of a button. It's more like a gentle wave that sometimes hits us unexpectedly - not always glamorously, often without notice. The truth is less Hollywood-like: anyone who thinks that the new year will immediately turn them into a marathon-running, organic smoothie-sipping superhero is underestimating life. Change is more like a charming sitcom: small successes, embarrassing missteps, occasional moments of self-awareness - always spiced up with a smile.

That's why we're celebrating today

And that's exactly why we're celebrating today. We are toasting. To the big plans that motivate us - and to the small, charming realities that remind us that we are human. Perhaps the most lasting resolution is not to train harder or get up earlier, but to be gentler with ourselves. More champagne? Yes! But without the pressure that everything has to be perfect tomorrow.

And if it doesn't work out? No problem. Then we'll just toast again next year - with just as much enthusiasm, humor and joy in the little moments. Because life isn't perfect - and that's exactly what makes it worth living.

When uncertainty grows, every speech becomes a test of leadership
Berlin. The figures are volatile, the decisions unpopular, the attention high. In the economic situation of 2026, executives in Germany are under particular scrutiny. Investments are being postponed, structures reviewed, priorities reset. And almost every one of these decisions has to be explained--to employees, committees, supervisory boards, or investors. In this environment, the function of speeches and presentations has changed. They no longer serve primarily to inform, but to provide orientation.

When being smart becomes a barrier - for gifted individuals and those around the …
Do you sometimes feel "too smart for the room" -- or do you know someone whose thoughts move faster than everyone else's? High intelligence opens doors: to creative solutions, complex problem-solving, and exceptional achievements. At the same time, it can lead to misunderstandings, frustration, or social distance in everyday life. Research and practice show: a high IQ alone does not guarantee smooth communication. Misunderstandings often arise not from a lack of intent,

Humanity in the age of AI: Vulnerability instead of perfect language
Berlin - Voice, style, facial expressions, arguments: What was long considered the unmistakable expression of human individuality can now be reproduced technically. Artificial intelligence writes speeches, imitates emotions, simulates closeness. What remains when everything that defines a human being appears interchangeable? The question is not a technological one, but an anthropological one. It does not focus on the performance of machines, but on the self-image of a society that is

Are you replaceable? - Why humans must not stop working on themselves despite AI
In a rapidly changing world in which artificial intelligence (AI) is taking over more and more tasks, a central question arises: what remains for humans? "Machines are faster, more precise and more efficient in many areas. But they are not human. They have no soul. They don't feel," says performance coach Jessica Wahl. At a time when technology is transforming the world of work, it's not about fighting machines, but about
