Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) characterization Services

Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) characterization Services

BENGALURU, India - Ghexa Research Centre (GRC), a premier provider of analytical microscopy solutions, is now offering specialized Cryo-Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) characterization services. This capability provides pharmaceutical researchers and structural biologists with a direct pathway to visualize complex biological targets at near-atomic resolution, bypassing the limitations of traditional crystallography.

Overcoming the Crystallization Barrier

The pharmaceutical industry faces a critical challenge: many high-value drug targets, such as G-Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) and membrane proteins, are difficult or impossible to crystallize. Cryo-Electron Microscopy solves this "crystallization bottleneck." By flash-freezing samples in vitreous ice, GRC enables researchers to image biological macromolecules in their native, hydrated state.

"We are moving structural biology from static snapshots to dynamic reality," said Mahesh Reddy, CMO at Ghexa Research Centre. "Our (Cryo-EM) workflows allow scientists to determine the 3D structures of 'undruggable' proteins and validate complex delivery systems like Lipid Nanoparticles (LNPs) with unprecedented clarity."

Service Highlights: The Power of (Cryo-EM)

Ghexa Research Centre utilizes state-of-the-art Cryo-Electron Microscopy workflows to support three critical areas of drug development:

Single Particle Analysis (SPA): For structure-based drug design (SBDD), GRC provides high-resolution 3D reconstruction of proteins and macromolecular complexes. (Cryo-EM) allows for the visualization of ligand binding pockets and conformational changes that are invisible to X-ray crystallography.

LNP and Liposome Characterization: With the rise of mRNA therapeutics, the structural integrity of the delivery vehicle is paramount. GRC uses Cryo-Electron Microscopy to analyze the morphology, lamellarity, and size distribution of Lipid Nanoparticles (LNPs) and liposomes, ensuring the payload is properly encapsulated.

Viral Vector Quality Control (AAV Analysis): For gene therapy, distinguishing between "full" (genome-containing) and "empty" viral capsids is a critical quality metric. (Cryo-EM) imaging provides a direct visual statistical analysis of full-to-empty ratios for Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) vectors, offering superior accuracy over indirect methods like DLS.

Democratizing Access to Nobel-Winning Tech

Once an exclusive tool for academic elites, Cryo-Electron Microscopy is now a standard requirement for IND (Investigational New Drug) filings. Ghexa Research Centre provides the industrial-grade throughput and expertise required to integrate (Cryo-EM) data directly into the R&D pipeline, reducing the time from target identification to lead optimization.
