CastoDur EQT: Abrasion Resistant Wear Plates for Demanding Applications
Abrasion Resistant (AR) wear plates have long been a cornerstone solution for protecting equipment exposed to severe wear, impact, and material flow. Building on decades of experience in wear protection, Castolin Eutectic offers CastoDur EQT, a proven range of AR hardened wear plates and liners designed to perform reliably in demanding industrial environments.Available in 400, 450, and 500 BHN hardness classes, CastoDur EQT is designed for applications where extreme abrasion, high impact, and integrity are critical. These hardened steel plates undergo a specialized quench-and-temper heat treatment, resulting in superior hardness, toughness, and ductility. This advanced metallurgical process ensures reliable performance across various industries, including mining, aggregates, construction, recycling, and heavy industrial equipment.
Engineered for Demanding Conditions
CastoDur EQT abrasion-resistant plates provide a balance of high wear resistance and mechanical strength, with typical properties for 20 mm plate including:
• Yield Strength: ~174,000 psi (1200 MPa)
• Tensile Strength: ~203,000 psi (1400 MPa)
• Max Service Temperature: 250°C
These characteristics make CastoDur EQT a dependable solution for reducing unplanned maintenance and extending service life in high-wear material handling and processing systems.
Versatile Applications Across Heavy Industries
CastoDur EQT is suitable for a wide range of equipment and components subjected to abrasion and impact, including:
• Dipper and rope shovels
• Primary and secondary crushers
• Feed, discharge and loading chutes
• Apron feeders and skirt boards
• Truck bed liners and bucket lips
• Hoppers, skips, rock crusher liners, and mixer paddles
Its broad applicability allows operators to significantly reduce downtime, improve productivity, and enhance long-term reliability.
Optimized for Fabrication and Field Integration
CastoDur EQT is available in multiple thicknesses, up to 6 inches, and supported by Castolin Eutectic's full suite of value-added services, including HD plasma cutting, beveling, forming, drilling, machining, custom attachments, and lifting lug fabrication. For applications requiring even greater durability, CastoDur EQT can be complemented with Chrome White Iron (CWI) or CDP® complex carbide weld overlay technology.
The wear plates are easily weldable using Castolin Eutectic filler metals such as EutecTrode® 966, CEC 9598, EnDOtec® DO*266S, DO*68S, or TeroMatec® OA 3302, with preheat recommendations varying by thickness. Additional abrasion protection can be achieved using overlay solutions such as Abratec N6710 XHD, SafeHard 700 (chrome-free welding wire), or TeroMatec® OA 4603.
