Fruity Chutes Reaffirms Support for U.S. and Allied Drone Manufacturers Following FY 2026 NDAA

Los Gatos, CA - December 15, 2025 - In light of the passage of the FY 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and the resulting changes to the drone manufacturing landscape, Fruity Chutes is reaffirming its readiness to support drone manufacturers navigating new sourcing and compliance considerations.

Recent restrictions on certain foreign-manufactured unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) have understandably raised questions across the industry. In particular, we have encountered confusion around whether these changes impact the ability to procure U.S.-based parachute recovery systems. To be clear: Fruity Chutes' products and services remain fully available to drone manufacturers, including those transitioning platforms or suppliers as a result of the NDAA.

Since opening for business in 2007, Fruity Chutes has focused on building modular, non-platform-specific parachute recovery systems designed to integrate across a wide range of unmanned aircraft. Our approach has always been intentionally open and adaptable, allowing manufacturers to configure recovery systems based on their airframe, mission profile, and regulatory requirements; without being tied to a specific drone OEM or restricted platform.

Because Fruity Chutes parachute components are not coupled to foreign-manufactured drones, manufacturers evaluating or adopting non-Chinese UAS platforms should not encounter compatibility limitations when working with us. Our commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product lines support a broad range of aircraft sizes and configurations, from small multirotor systems to large rotorcraft and fixed-wing platforms. This modularity allows manufacturers to maintain continuity in their safety systems even as airframes evolve.

In addition to our commercial off-the-shelf product lines, Fruity Chutes is able to support custom drone parachute recovery solutions when program requirements call for it. Through our manufacturing partnership with High Energy Systems, based in Mississippi, we are able to develop tailored recovery systems and scale production to meet higher-volume needs while maintaining consistent quality and performance.

Beyond hardware, Fruity Chutes has long supported manufacturers pursuing compliance with Federal Aviation Administration approved standards, including ASTM F3322. Our systems are designed with these frameworks in mind, and we regularly work with customers to align recovery solutions with FAA, EASA, Transport Canada, and other CAA expectations.
