Press release
MySimConfig - Your new simracing setup configurator
What is MySimConfig?MySimConfig is a passion project born from a simple observation: building a sim racing setup shouldn't be a compatibility nightmare.
After more than 4 years covering the sim racing industry as a journalist and blogger for HomeRacing.fr, one of France's leading sim racing publications, I've seen countless enthusiasts struggle with the same challenge: compatibility confusion.
We've all been there - you find the perfect wheel, but wait... does it work with your wheelbase? Do you need a QR adapter? What about the mounting pattern? Will your pedals connect to this base or do you need a separate USB adapter?
Discovering Hidden Gems
One of MySimConfig's goals is to surface excellent equipment that deserves attention but lacks visibility. As the database grows, you'll discover products you never knew existed - because keeping track shouldn't require a full-time job.
The Vision - Where We're Headed
This is just the beginning. MySimConfig is evolving into a complete sim racing resource hub, built on a foundation of industry expertise and community understanding.
Guide Section (Coming Soon)
Empowerment through education. That's the core philosophy shaped by years of helping readers navigate the sim racing landscape.
MySimConfig isn't about pushing products - it's about helping people make informed decisions with the same level of insight I've provided to HomeRacing.fr's audience for over 4 years. The guide section will include:
Newcomer Guides: What is sim racing? What do you actually need to get started? Demystifying the hobby for curious beginners with real-world context
Ecosystem Explanations: Breaking down each manufacturer's specificities - the things they don't tell you in marketing materials
Technical Deep-Dives: Understanding force feedback, direct drive vs. belt-driven systems, load cell pedals, QR standards, and other technical concepts - explained with the clarity that comes from extensive product testing
Decision Frameworks: How to choose equipment based on your space, budget, and racing style - informed by years of market observation
Setup Optimization: Getting the most out of your hardware through proper configuration - tips gathered from countless reviews and user interactions
Product Discovery: Highlighting lesser-known brands and products that deserve your attention
💪 Why This Matters
The sim racing industry has exploded in recent years, but it's remained unnecessarily complicated for newcomers. I've witnessed this firsthand through hundreds of reader questions, forum discussions, and support requests over my 4+ years at HomeRacing.fr.
With multiple competing ecosystems each with their own specificities, proprietary standards, undocumented compatibility gotchas, and an ever-expanding catalog of products that's impossible to track, many potential sim racers give up before they even start. I've seen the confusion, the frustration, the unnecessary returns and restocking fees.
The barriers to entry shouldn't be this high.
You shouldn't need to become an expert in ecosystem specificities just to buy your first wheel. You shouldn't need to follow industry news daily just to know what products exist. You shouldn't need a compatibility spreadsheet and a prayer to build a working setup.
MySimConfig exists to change that.
Every sim racer deserves to build their dream setup without fear of incompatibility. Every newcomer deserves to discover this incredible hobby without feeling overwhelmed by invisible ecosystem rules. Every enthusiast deserves to know about all their options, not just the ones with the biggest marketing budgets. Everyone deserves tools built by someone who truly understands the ecosystem - not just from a technical perspective, but from years of living and breathing this industry.
The Road Ahead
The road is still long, but we'll get there.
This is an early release - a foundation to build upon, strengthened by 4+ years of industry knowledge. There are more brands to add (so many great products to surface!), more ecosystem specificities to document, more features to implement, more guides to write. But the core is solid, the expertise is real, and the vision is clear.
