MIT Scientist-Backed Beauty Tech Brand Grabity Sells Out on Amazon Within One Month of U.S. Launch
K-beauty haircare startup records complete stockout across U.S. platforms following sell-out success in Korea, Taiwan, and JapanImage: https://www.globalnewslines.com/uploads/2025/12/c510224fdbb797530992fa49b6259ce4.jpg
Grabity, a science-backed haircare brand developed by MIT-trained researchers, has completely sold out on Amazon U.S. within one month of launching in the American market. All flagship SKUs currently show out-of-stock status as of December 4.
The Delaware-based brand also claimed the No. 1 spot on Yamibuy's new arrivals chart. Yamibuy is a leading K-beauty e-commerce platform targeting Asian-American consumers.
"The U.S. response exceeded our projections," said Haeshin Lee, founder and CEO of Polyphenol Factory, Grabity's parent company. "We've already secured our second production run and expect to restock by mid-December."
Grabity's U.S. debut marks the latest milestone in a global expansion that has seen rapid adoption across Asia. Since launching in South Korea in April 2024, the brand has sold over 3 million units and maintained No. 1 rankings across major Korean retail and e-commerce platforms.
The brand replicated this success in Taiwan earlier this year, selling out shortly after launch. In Japan, Grabity achieved a "triple crown" on Rakuten in September, simultaneously topping daily, weekly, and category rankings.
Grabity's core technology centers on a patented polyphenol compound that binds directly to hair proteins. The formulation delivers measurable improvements in hair strength and volume, according to the company.
The product has found its strongest audience among consumers aged 40-60 experiencing age-related hair thinning-a demographic that represents significant purchasing power in the premium haircare segment.
CEO of Polyphenol Factory and Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) Haeshin Lee led the development of Grabity's proprietary technology during his time at MIT. "American consumers demand both scientific rigor and visible results," Lee said. "Our clinical approach and ingredient transparency resonate in this market."
Polyphenol Factory plans to expand beyond Amazon to specialty beauty retailers including ULTA Beauty. The company will showcase its technology at CES 2026 in Las Vegas and Cosmoprof Bologna 2026, targeting expanded distribution in North America and Europe.
