European Commission to discuss the Winter Package, digitalisation of the energy system and the importance of cybersecurity
European Commission's Deputy Head of Unit, Mark Van Stiphout will share updates on the recently proposed Winter Package this March at SMi's European Smart Grid Cyber Security Conference, taking place on 21st-22nd March.
Mark will lead a presentation entitled: "The digitalisation of the energy system and the importance of cybersecurity" in which he will discuss the recently proposed Winter Package. He will explore the key elements of the European Commission's legislative proposals, designed to put energy efficiency first, to be the global leader in renewable energy as well as to provide a fairer deal for consumers. Furthermore he will also explain how EU policy and R&D can help to overcome the challenges for Cybersecurity in the energy system.
Other keynotes will include an update on the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the NIS Directive from IT Governance's CEO & Founder, Alan Calder and a focus on policy driven security challenges in Great Britain from Smart Energy Code Company (SECCo).
Returning to London, the two-day will bring together nations from Belgium; Brazil; Sweden; Germany; Italy; Latvia; Norway; Netherland; UK and USA and is the perfect meeting point for senior experts in cyber security from utilities, TSOs, regulators and solution providers.
The 2017 show provides a platform for those working in the utility sector to meet and discuss latest regulatory standards, advances in technological solutions, the latest smart metering programmes, European utility market dynamics, advances in construction and technology, communication and human issues and how to overcome them.
Notable presenters at the conference includes National Grid, Enel SpA, European Network for Cyber Security (ENCS), ElaadNl & Enexis, Smart Energy Code Company (SECCo), MITRE, CPqD, Toreon CVBA, Norwegian Centre for Information Security (NorSIS) Smart Energy Demand Coalition (SEDC), SecurityMatters, Smart Energy GB,ONRIZ gcv, Smart Homes and Building Associations.
There is also a post-conference workshop, designed to counter the multitude of potential attack vectors to enable faster respond to cyber inciden as well as to think like a hacker. Taking place on the 23rd March, the workshop is hosted by Toreon CVBA and ONRIX gcv titled: "Setting up defence-in-depth".
