A VCSEL (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) chip is a novel type of semiconductor laser device. It represents a form of semiconductor laser. In the consumer electronics field, the 3D biometric identification of high-end smartphones and the spatial perception needs of AR/VR devices have directly driven the mass application of small-sized VCSEL arrays; the accelerated advancement of autonomous driving has spurred the demand for high-power VCSEL arrays, and their long-distance and high-precision perception realized in lidar has become a core perception guarantee for high-level autonomous driving; the development of data centers and 5G communications has even made VCSEL occupy a dominant position in short-distance high-speed optical interconnection, adapting to the high-bandwidth transmission needs brought by cloud computing and big data.
