Nick Scali's digital supply chain transformation earns top

For immediate release
Furniture retailer Nick Scali's rapid digital supply chain transformation, developed in response to supply chain disruptions experienced in 2024, has earned the company and its supply chain partner Explorate the Big Data, IT & Business Intelligence Award at the 2025 Australian Supply Chain and Logistics (ASCL) Awards.

When a freight forwarder collapse in late 2024 stranded more than 300 containers across Australian ports, Nick Scali turned a major logistics challenge into an opportunity to strengthen its long-term operational resilience. Partnering with Explorate, an Australian supply chain performance partner, the company accelerated a digital transformation that enhanced visibility, control and collaboration across its global operations without disrupting day-to-day performance.

The project delivered a fully integrated, data-driven supply chain model that connected systems and teams through automation and real-time intelligence. Measurable results were achieved within months, working directly with shipping lines and streamlining supply chain administration to deliver increased control and cost efficiencies for Nick Scali.

"I am very proud of the work that has been completed between the Nick Scali and Explorate teams to develop and implement this important capability for our business," said Angus McDonald, Chief Operating Officer at Nick Scali. "This provides us with a big step forward in the quality of information, visibility and control over our international shipping arrangements, which are essential for delivering our customer experience across Australia, New Zealand and the UK."

For Explorate, the project demonstrates how technology and collaboration can help Australian businesses build more connected, confident and high-performing supply chains.

Conor Hagan, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Explorate, said: "It's been a fantastic journey working alongside the team at Nick Scali to bring this project to life. Collaborating with such an iconic Australian brand to transform their supply chain into something not only industry-leading but capable of supporting innovative thinking for years to come has been a privilege."

This marks Explorate's second consecutive ASCL win in the Big Data, IT & Business Intelligence category, following last year's recognition for its work with the Sussan Group. It reinforces the company's leadership in helping Australian businesses build simple, smart supply chains powered by data.
