New book calls for state quota limit in the Basic Law - For a state capable of acting

The work combines economic analysis, financial argumentation and a constitutional perspective. The author shows that a permanently growing state share undermines the innovative strength, productivity and competitiveness of an economy. States that limit themselves through moderation and efficiency are more successful in the long term - examples such as Switzerland, Sweden and Singapore show how reforms are possible through clear fiscal rules.
"The state does not become strong by expanding, but by concentrating on its core tasks," says Rechtsteiner. "What began as social welfare now threatens to lead to a structural overstretch of the public sector. A state quota limit in the Basic Law would be the logical step towards revitalizing and securing a strong and free state."
The book sets out how such a limit could be designed - as a new state objective in the Basic Law, forcing politics and administration to be efficient and making fiscal sustainability a duty. This is not about cuts in the welfare state, but about prioritization, modernization and securing the future.
Rechtsteiner combines his experience as an internationally active manager in over 120 countries with scientific analysis. His view of different state systems makes it clear that it is precisely in self-limitation that state strength and credibility lie.
The book is aimed at economists, lawyers, politicians, entrepreneurs, journalists - and anyone who wonders how Germany can find its way back to a dynamic, liberal and at the same time effective order.

4U GmbH, based in Stuttgart, is an internationally oriented consulting and management company specializing in digitalization, business development and franchising. With many years of experience in multinational management positions, the company supports its clients in expanding, internationalizing and increasing efficiency.
The managing director and author, Ulric E.J. Rechtsteiner, has traveled to around 100 countries, opened up new markets and built structures where economies were just opening up. As an entrepreneur, investor and long-standing managing director in international mechanical engineering, he has experienced how states suffocate from excess - and how limitation creates strength.
With his project "State quota limit in the German constitution", he argues for a new balance between state and market, responsibility and freedom. A strong state needs limits - not to become weaker, but to remain true to itself.
