New Horizons at SHL Healthcare Bulgaria

A new chapter is unfolding with the appointment of Slavina Zdravtcheva and Petar Matev as Site Managers at SHL Healthcare Bulgaria
Together, they bring a powerful blend of expertise, combining operational excellence with organizational agility. Their leadership ensures that the Bulgarian site continues to strengthen its role within SHL Healthcare's global MedTech manufacturing network. By aligning strategy with innovation, the new management team is set to advance SHL's mission of delivering trusted, EU-based manufacturing solutions to customers worldwide.
What does your new role mean for SHL Healthcare Bulgaria's future?
Slavina Zdravtcheva:
My role plays a key part in shaping a future where customer projects are executed with precision, speed, and sustainability. Our goal is to deliver solutions that meet customer expectations while establishing robust and efficient processes for mass production. Upholding the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance is non-negotiable, and we'll continue to achieve this by embedding lean principles into every stage of our operations. Ultimately, we're working toward a culture where excellence is the norm and where we take pride and enjoyment in the journey as much as in the results.
Petar Matev:
When I stepped into this role, I made a commitment to help foster a workplace culture rooted in meaningful company values. We're fortunate to have an outstanding team of professionals, and we're building on this strength by empowering our people and amplifying their impact. Looking ahead, I envision SHL Healthcare Bulgaria as a place where talented individuals can grow their careers and where customers choose us as their trusted contract manufacturing partner because of our excellence, integrity, and collaborative spirit.
How does the Bulgarian site strengthen SHL Healthcare's position in the European MedTech market?
Petar Matev:
SHL Healthcare Bulgaria adds a strategic advantage to our European presence, offering a unique suite of services and standing out for the breadth of capabilities we deliver to customers. By leveraging the deep experience and best practices of our established teams in China and Sweden, we've ensured that the Bulgarian site operates with efficiency and excellence from day one. In addition, Bulgaria's strong tradition in contract manufacturing gives us access to a highly skilled talent pool, enhancing our ability to meet diverse client needs with precision, quality, and responsiveness.
How does the Bulgarian site collaborate with SHL Healthcare's other global locations, such as Sweden and China?
Slavina Zdravtcheva:
We operate as a truly global team. In Sofia, we collaborate daily with our colleagues in Sweden and China, sharing resources, knowledge, and expertise across borders. Our projects benefit from the synergy of this global network-China provides strong support in scalable project management, while Sweden contributes regulatory guidance and strategic oversight. Our Textile Center of Excellence in Borås also plays a vital role in driving innovation and efficiency. This cross-site collaboration is a cornerstone of our success and ensures that every solution we deliver reflects SHL Healthcare's global standards of quality and excellence.
Petar Matev:
I fully share Slavina's view. We work very closely with our teams in China and Sweden through hybrid, cross-country teams that bring together diverse perspectives and specialized expertise. This structure allows us to tackle shared projects seamlessly, maximize resource efficiency, and accelerate problem-solving. Most importantly, it enables us to leverage the full strength of SHL Healthcare's global talent - driving innovation, agility, and continuous improvement across all our locations.
What role does the Sofia facility play in SHL's global supply chain and product development lifecycle?
Slavina Zdravtcheva:
In today's dynamic geopolitical landscape, our facility in Sofia is a strategic asset for both resilience and proximity. Being located in the EU allows us to source materials efficiently from Europe and Turkey, reducing lead times while maintaining access to trusted suppliers in Asia. On the product development side, Bulgaria plays a crucial role in accelerating the transfer of products from China, enabling faster time-to-market and strengthening our global supply chain.
What are the unique advantages of SHL Healthcare Bulgaria compared to other MedTech manufacturing hubs?
Slavina Zdravtcheva:
SHL Healthcare Bulgaria offers a unique combination of entrepreneurial spirit and operational maturity. Our team blends the agility of a start-up with the discipline required in a regulated industry, supported by deep expertise and strong collaboration with our global sites. This enables us to act quickly, uphold the highest standards, and deliver meaningful results. Our size gives us flexibility and responsiveness, while our experience ensures that we do so with precision and quality.
Petar Matev:
SHL Healthcare Bulgaria sets a new standard as a true one-stop-shop partner. We bring together advanced manufacturing capabilities, deep industry knowledge, and a commitment to innovation, delivering tailored solutions that meet the evolving needs of our partners. By simplifying complex challenges, we provide seamless support every step of the way.
What is your strategy and priority focus areas as you look ahead to 2026?
Petar Matev:
Customer expectations have never been higher - they demand lightning-fast delivery, exceptional quality, and consistent cost-efficiency. To navigate this challenging landscape, we are focusing on delivering maximum value, optimizing operations for efficiency, and fostering transparency that builds trust and loyalty with our partners.
Slavina Zdravtcheva:
Aligned with Petar's emphasis on efficiency, it will be our guiding principle in 2026. In a highly regulated industry, success depends on how effectively we manage our resources. Our strategy centers on fostering team engagement, which has already shown promising momentum. By cultivating a lean mindset, we aim to empower our people, eliminate waste, and continuously improve our processes - ensuring that we remain competitive and future-ready.
