Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust to Deploy Ardentia’s 18-Week Wait Tool

Press release from: Ardentia

/ PR Agency: Context
Business intelligence specialist Ardentia has been selected by Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust to deploy its 18-week wait solution Pathway Manager, to address national Referral to Treatment (RTT) reporting requirements.

The NHS Trust will use Ardentia’s Pathway Manager in order to meet national 18-week reporting requirements and manage patient pathways from initial GP referral to acute or other hospital treatment.

Providing local hospital services to 500,000 people in Southampton and South West Hampshire, as well as specialist services to more than three million people in central Southern England and the Channel Islands, Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust will use Pathway Manager to manage RTT time, and to ensure that patients receive timely access to care.

Pathway Manager enables NHS Trusts to monitor patients’ progress against the 18-week clock and ensure compliance with the new NHS regulations, ahead of the December 2008 deadline.

The solutions will be used by information analysts at the Trust to ensure compliance with national reporting requirements, and will also be used within the Trust’s own in-house information portal to drill down and investigate wider issues relating to patient pathways in greater detail.

Southampton has also chosen to deploy Ardentia’s data warehouse and patient level costing solutions to address the deployment of resources for healthcare and to understand potential risk, as well as supporting the development of long-term financial modelling.

Adrian Byrne, IM&T director at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust said: “Improved processes and systems, and access to essential referrals-to-treatment information means a better flow of patients, enabling managers and clinicians to plan and manage their workloads more effectively and deliver an improved level of service, as well as ensuring compliance with national reporting requirements.”

David Beeson, marketing director at Ardentia said: “With the 18-week deadline fast approaching, Trusts need a robust solution in place to ensure they have the essential referrals-to-treatment information needed by clinicians and administrators. We are looking forward to working closely with Southampton, ensuring they have the information for full RTT compliance, and enabling them to continue to provide the highest level of patient care.”
