LAPD Honors Simin Hashemizadeh with Citizenship Award for Transformative Community Impact
Founder of the Simin Hope Foundation recognized for groundbreaking work uplifting underserved families and youth across Los AngelesLos Angeles, CA - September 30, 2025 - In a heartfelt ceremony, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) honored philanthropist Simin Hashemizadeh, founder of the Simin Hope Foundation, with its prestigious Citizenship Award for her extraordinary commitment to strengthening communities and supporting children in some of the city's most underserved neighborhoods.
The award was presented on behalf of Deputy Chief Ruby Flores by Captain James Lopez at the historic Hooper Heliport, the world's largest rooftop airport. The honor recognizes Hashemizadeh's transformative outreach in partnership with the LAPD Community Safety Bureau.
Through the Simin Hope Foundation, Hashemizadeh has spearheaded initiatives delivering vital resources, mentorship, and educational support to disadvantaged youth-while building stronger bridges between neighborhoods and law enforcement.
"The LAPD is proud to stand with citizens who are not only passionate about making a difference but are actively transforming lives," said Sgt. Felipe Pardo of the Community Safety Bureau. "Simin and her team embody the true spirit of service, and their collaboration with our officers has created measurable, positive change."
As part of the ceremony, Hashemizadeh and foundation volunteers received a rare behind-the-scenes tour of the LAPD Air Support Division, home to the largest municipal police aviation unit in the United States with 17 helicopters. The group spent the morning with pilots and tactical flight officers, gaining insight into the division's critical role in safeguarding Los Angeles from above.
Reflecting on the honor, Hashemizadeh said:
"It was an incredible privilege to receive this award and to spend time with the brave men and women who protect our city. At the Simin Hope Foundation, we are deeply committed to working hand-in-hand with the LAPD and community partners to ensure every child in Los Angeles has the opportunity to grow up in a safe, supportive environment."
The recognition highlights the power of civic partnerships in creating safer, more inclusive cities. As the Simin Hope Foundation continues to expand its programs, including their legendary annual toy extravaganza, the LAPD underscored that citizens like Hashemizadeh are indispensable allies in shaping a stronger future for Los Angeles.
