Citizens Commission on Human Rights Nashville Marks World Mental Health Day with Call for Awareness and Justice
Nashville, Tennessee, 20th September 2025, ZEX PR WIRE, October 10 marks World Mental Health Day, a global observance dedicated to raising awareness of mental well-being. The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) Nashville is using this occasion to remind the community that there are simple, effective steps individuals can take to support their own mental health-while also encouraging those who have experienced psychiatric abuse or mistreatment to seek justice.World Mental Health Day was established by the World Federation for Mental Health in 1992 and is recognized annually by the World Health Organization. This year, CCHR Nashville is highlighting practical actions everyone can do to improve daily mental wellness, including:
Taking time for rest, exercise, and good nutrition.
Staying connected with family, friends, and supportive groups.
Engaging in creative activities and hobbies.
Limiting screen time and creating healthy routines.
"True mental health comes from empowering individuals to take care of themselves and live full lives-not from labeling, overmedicating, or coercive practices," said a spokesperson for CCHR Nashville. "We want people to know they have options for self-care, and that if they have suffered harm or abuse at the hands of psychiatry, there is a place to turn."
CCHR, founded in 1969 by the Church of Scientology and psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Szasz, has worked for decades to expose abuses in the field of mental health. The Nashville chapter continues this mission by advocating for human rights and assisting individuals who seek accountability when harmed.
On this World Mental Health Day, CCHR Nashville calls on the community to celebrate mental wellness by taking simple, proactive steps toward better health-and to stand up for justice where psychiatric abuse has occurred.
