Born in Laos and raised in Minnesota after her family resettled as refugees, Kaohly's journey reflects the resilience and opportunity that define the American Dream. From her years in the financial services industry to her leadership as Policy Director in Mayor Melvin Carter's administration, Kaohly has consistently worked to strengthen families, expand opportunities, and defend the rights of all communities.
Her campaign focuses on four key priorities:
Safe Communities: Building trust, addressing root causes of crime, and ensuring safety in every neighborhood.
Vibrant Economy: Supporting small businesses, creating accessible jobs, and responsibly managing city resources.
Affordable, Abundant Housing: Expanding affordable housing while protecting renters and homeowners.
Defending Our Neighbors: Standing with immigrant families, workers, and marginalized communities.

Kaohly Vang Her has served as a State Representative for District 64A since 2018 and currently holds the position of Deputy Speaker Pro Tempore. She has a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an M.B.A. from Northeastern University, and is completing her doctoral studies at the University of St. Thomas. She has extensive experience in finance, education, and public policy, and lives in Saint Paul with her husband Kong and their two children.
