ANNOUNCING THE LAUNCH OF THE CHILDREN’S INTERNATIONAL

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, APRIL 9, 2008 – THE CHILDREN’S INTERNATIONAL OBESITY FOUNDATION (“CIOF”) is dedicated to predicting, preventing, treating, and ultimately eliminating childhood overweight and obesity. This increasingly costly and painful health epidemic is affecting the world’s population of babies, youngsters, adolescents and young adults. CIOF’s approach is holistic, multidisciplinary and integrative. We believe that dedicated individuals from diverse fields, working together with a synergistic sharing of ideas, produce the most expedient solutions. Especially in a situation where causality may vary significantly, and prevention and treatment must vary accordingly. Without taking bold measures, it is anticipated that within these next three years, one out of every three children worldwide will be obese. “Statistically,” said Douglas Castle, a spokesman for the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, “this means that our children are the first generation of children in history to actually have a lower life expectancy than their parents. This is inconceivable in such a supposedly advanced society. An increasing percentage of deaths is caused annually due to complications resulting from overweight and obesity.”
